I helped create this suit (and wear it) during my internship at VaderPainter Studios. It started as a kit from ANOVOS, but the client wanted it to be as screen accurate as possible. I researched what needed to be changed and the best ways to attach everything.
As cool as the outside looks, my absolute favorite part of this project was the inside. Below the armor is an impressive mix of nylon webbing, mesh, and buckles to keep it all together and in place.
The blaster is a VaderPainter kit that I helped cast and send out during my time there.
I recently built a Prusa 3D Printer kit, and I have been having a blast messing around with it. I am currently in the process of modeling the blaster (using Autodesk Inventor) that the title character uses in The Mandalorian TV show and plan on printing and painting it. I also plan on using 3D prints to create molds for casting.
This project has been through many different stages. It started as a Pepakura (folded and glued cardstock) project just to try during my freshman year of college. Then, I coated the inside with fiberglass to add structure to the paper.
At this point, I wanted to use it to try slush casting. The finish wasn’t perfect, but I knew I would never get the paper structure how I wanted. I also really just wanted to finally try slush casting :). The result came out pretty well. It taught me that a mold will only amplify any blemishes, not hide them. I also casted the mask in clay so that I can sculpt out the imperfections and made a new mold.
